What is the difference between MPG and L/100km?

MPG (miles per gallon) measures how far you travel per unit of fuel—higher is better. L/100km measures how much fuel you consume per 100 km of travel—lower is better. They are inversely related.

How do I calculate my MPG?

Fill up your tank, reset your trip meter, drive until the next fill-up, then enter the miles driven and gallons used. The calculator divides miles by gallons to give you your MPG.

What is the average car MPG?

The US average for new cars is around 30 MPG combined (city/highway). The calculator uses 30 MPG as a benchmark to show how your vehicle compares.

Can I calculate fuel cost for a road trip?
