What is the root element?

XML requires exactly one top-level element that wraps all other content. If your JSON is an object or array, the converter wraps it in a root element. You can set any tag name you like, or use the default 'root'.

What is attribute mode?

In attribute mode, JSON keys that start with '@' (e.g. '@id', '@class') are output as XML attributes on their parent element rather than child elements. For example, {"@id": "1", "name": "Alice"} becomes Alice .

How are JSON arrays handled?

Each element of a JSON array is wrapped in a configurable item tag (default: 'item'). Arrays of objects produce repeated tags named after the parent key, e.g. ... ... .

Are special characters escaped?

Yes. The characters , &, ', and " in string values are escaped to their XML entity equivalents (<, >, &, ', ") so the output is always well-formed XML.

Can I download the XML?

Yes. Click the Download button to save the converted XML as a .xml file. The file includes the standard XML declaration .
